The tuition for this course is $2,960 plus a $85 non refundable application fee. For international students, there is an additional $200 processing fee upon enrollment. The tuition covers all books and labs.
Residential locations have an additional Residential Program Fee which covers the cost of room and board plus activities that take place in the evenings and on weekends.
Some commuter locations also have an additional fee to cover lunch.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors, limited need-based financial assistance is available for commuting students. Financial assistance may be in the form of full or partial scholarships. The application for financial assistance with supporting documents must be submitted with the student application. Only completed applications with supporting documents will be considered.
We are not able to provide financial assistance to students interested in participating in a residential program.
The Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus residential program costs an additional $4,500 which includes room, meals, activities, and field trips. Residential students will have access to the library, athletic center, and rock climbing walls, as well as the student infirmary. Computer labs are available in the residence halls.
The Engineering Innovation students will be mixed in with the other high schools students participating in Pre-College programs at JHU. Room requests cannot be accepted. Space is limited to 160 residential students on the JHU Homewood campus.
The Hood College residential program costs an additional $4,400 which includes room, meals, activities, and field trips.
There is no financial assistance available for the residential program fee. Spaces are reserved by payment in full after acceptance into the program.

At Hood College and the JHU-Homewood campus there is a commuter lunch fee.

Yes! Students are eligible to receive a JHU transcript with 3 college credits if they complete the course with a final grade of an A or a B. Students receiving college credit should contact the JHU Office of the Registrar to request that a transcript be delivered to their home and/or institutions of their choice.
To be eligible to receive an A or B in the course, students must have attended regularly, completed all labs and assignments, taken the weekly quizzes, and completed the take-home, open book final exam. The overall course grades are calculated using the following weights: 55% on final exam, 30% on weekly quizzes, 15% on homework and lab reports. Students not receiving an A or B in the course will receive a Certificate of Completion, but no college credit or transcript.
This is primarily a commuter program, but we do offer a residential option at the main Johns Hopkins Homewood campus in Baltimore and Hood College. Residential students must be 15 by June 23, 2019, and no older than 17 on July 20, 2019.

We want students to have many opportunities to foster friendships, develop life skills, and become involved in a variety of activities. Because of this, roommate assignments are done at random, and special requests will not be honored.
It is JHU practice to assign students to rooms based on sex. Should this not meet your needs, please contact the EI Office at 410-516-6224.
An orientation guide and calendar of events will be available to residential students two weeks prior to the program start date.

We recognize that many schools do not offer a course called Trigonometry. To meet the Trigonometry prerequisite students must be able to use the Trigonometric functions and be comfortable using the law of sines and law of cosines.
On the online application when asked if you have taken trigonometry, please select “Yes, as part of another course” from the pull-down menu. You will then be required to enter the name of the course where you learned to use trigonometric functions.
Students are required to attend scheduled classes and labs in order to qualify for college credit. However, should it be necessary for a student to be absent during the course, a written request must be made by his or her parent and/or legal guardian, followed by a discussion with the course instructor, as soon as possible.
Please note: there is a maximum of 2 excused absences in this course to obtain an A or B. If the request is approved, the instructor will work with the student to develop a plan to help the student complete the missed course work. It will not always be possible to make-up lab activities. It is up to the discretion of the instructor and the Engineering Innovation Director to approve absences.
International students must provide their TOEFL scores. The TOEFL requirement is based on the linguistic educational background of applicants, not citizenship. TOEFL is required of all applicants who have not attended an English language school for the last five years and whose primary lanaguage is not English. Applicants who score 670 or higher on the Critical Reading section of the SAT or 30 or more ont he ACT Reading and English sections do not have to submit TOEFL scores. Students who meet these testing requirements are still encouraged to submit TOEFL scores, as it will often present them in the best light for their language preparation. Non-native English speakers attending English language school for the last five years are not required to submit a TOEFL score but may do so to supplement their application. IELTS will be accepted from applicants who live in countries where TOEFL is not administered. A score of 7.0 or higher on each band is expected on the IELTS.
Johns Hopkins prefers a score of 600 on the written test. The preferred sub-scores for the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) are 26 (Reading), 26 (Listening), 22(Writing), and 25 (Speaking).
International students must obtain an F1 Visa to participate in Engineering Innovation. Once the student is accepted into Engineering Innovation, he/she will need to provide the Office of International Services at Homewood a copy of their passport identification pages and a copy of a bank statement showing sufficient funds to support expenses for the Engineering Innovation program (US$6,900 – estimated). The bank statement should be less than six months old, on bank letterhead, and include the account holder(s) name(s), account number(s), current balance, and date of issue as evidence of financial support for the program.

All international students must have health insurance that is valid in the United States and be able to provide proof of this insurance upon acceptance into the program. Please note that you must provide a copy of your insurance information in English.
Withdrawals received earlier than 3 weeks prior to the start of class will receive a 90% tuition reduction. Withdrawals received within 3 weeks prior to class and up until the Friday of the first week will receive a 50% tuition reduction. No refunds will be issued after the end of the first week of class. Refunds will be calculated based on the date the student’s parent submits a written statement of withdrawal to Engineering Innovation.
No refund will be granted to students suspended or dismissed for disciplinary reasons. The Engineering Innovation program reserves the right to dismiss a student whose academic standing or general conduct is considered unsatisfactory.
