      • Application Fee:  $85

        • Summer 2022: $300 (shipping to addresses in the contiguous US is included in this fee) (2023 cost TBD)

        • Lab Kit Weight: 8 pounds (3.62 kg)
      • International Shipping Fee:  Based on cost to ship lab kits to addresses outside of the contiguous United States.  This can be as high as $500.

    An outside vendor ships lab kits for all Engineering Innovation courses offered online. Please note that the lab kit fee covers the cost of the shipping within the contiguous United States. Additional charges will be applied to shipments beyond the contiguous United States; these charges can be up to $500. Please see shipping costs for summer 2022 as a guide.

    Students outside the United States are also responsible for taxes, tariffs or duties that are charged by customs to clear the package in addition to international shipping fees.

    Once a lab kit has been shipped by our vendor, we are not able to issue a refund. Please check your email for updates regarding shipping dates.

  • To withdraw from Biomedical Engineering Innovation, our office must receive a written statement of withdrawal from the student’s parent or guardian. This notice can be sent to [email protected].

    Deadlines for receipt of withdrawal request for 2023:

    No Lab Fee refunds will be issued after the lab kits have been shipped by our supplier.

    No refunds will be granted to students suspended or dismissed for disciplinary reasons.  The Biomedical Engineering Innovation program reserves the right to dismiss a student whose academic standing or general conduct is considered unsatisfactory.

  • Need-based scholarships

    Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, limited need-based financial assistance is available for partial and full scholarships for students in commuter and online courses.

    Priority is given to

      • Students attending Baltimore City Public Schools
      • Students residing in the United States
      • Students with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

    We are not able to offer scholarships for the residential programs.

    The application for financial assistance is included as an option within the online application. Supporting documents, typically the parents’ W2s and 1040s, must be submitted either online during the application or emailed to [email protected]

    Baltimore City Public School Students: Application Fee Waiver + Summer Tuition Sponsorship 

    Students who attend a Baltimore City Public School are eligible for an application fee waiver. Please contact our office at [email protected] for instructions. You do NOT need to complete the financial aid portion of the application. If qualified and accepted to an Engineering Innovation course, you will receive a full scholarship to attend a commuter or online course. 

    Hopkins Engineering Innovation + Johns Hopkins Summer Jobs Program + YouthWorks Partnership 

    Jons Hopkins Engineering Innovation Pre-College Programs office works closely with Johns Hopkins Summer Jobs Program (JHSJP) YouthWorks to recruit Baltimore City Schools students to participate in a special program. Students who are accepted to the EI Pre-College Program of their choice and JHSJP-YouthWorks will be paid to attend a Hopkins Engineering Innovation Pre-College course, as well as receive a full scholarship. To be eligible, you must apply to both Engineering Innovation and YouthWorks and complete all application and enrollment steps outlined by both programs. 

    When completing the YouthWorks application, please select “Johns Hopkins” as your “Career Interests 1s.” The YouthWorks application will open in January 2023; the deadline for the YouthWorks application  will be announced soon. You can still apply to Hopkins EI Pre-College Programs after that date, but you will not be eligible to be paid for taking the course.

    Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Plan

    The Johns Hopkins Tuition Remission Plan may be used to cover tuition fees only.  Johns Hopkins University employees should contact Human Resources to determine whether they are eligible for the benefit and complete the Dependent Child Tuition Remission Benefit Application.  Please submit an online form to SEAM.jhu.edu and upload the completed Tuition Remission Form to have it credited to the student’s account.

     

    Scholarships for residents of Carroll County, MD

    The Carroll County (MD) Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks offers need- and merit-based grants for residents of Carroll County (MD) to attend Engineering Innovation. Applicants may be students of public or private schools in Carroll County or another school district.

    The complete application (online application, application fee, teacher recommendation, financial documents, and official transcript) must be received by February 12, 2021, for consideration for this grant.

    When completing the online application, please indicate that you are applying for financial aid on the Parent Student Agreement section of the application. Please follow these instructions to indicate that you would like to apply for this grant.
