Application Review

Engineering Innovation only reviews completed applications. For an application to be complete, we must receive the following:

  • Your online application and application fee
  • 1 brief required essay, 1 brief optional essay
  • Your teacher recommendation
  • Your official high school transcript, including the most recent grades for classes that you are currently taking
  • Proof of English proficiency for non-native English speakers

Notices of missing items are sent to the email address you entered on your application. Please check your spam folder. It is your responsibility to ensure that all materials are sent and received by the required deadlines.

When is the Application Deadline?

Admission decisions to Engineering Innovation’s pre-college programs are made on a rolling basis, and only completed applications are considered. 

As with any rolling admission process, more spots are available earlier than later, so complete your application early. Decisions for completed applications will be released within one month or sooner.

Early Action Deadline
Friday, Feb. 14, 2025
You’re encouraged to apply to your program of choice early! All spots are first come, first serve. Any applications completed by this date will be considered in the first round. All parts of your application must be submitted. If any documentation is missing, it will be pushed to a later decision date. If you apply by this date, you’ll be notified of your application status by March 3.

Deadline to Apply for Students Requiring a Visa
Friday, Mar. 14, 2025
If you are a student requiring a student visa to attend Engineering Innovation’s in-person programs, you must submit your application by this date. The visa process can be lengthy, so we want to ensure there is sufficient time for you to secure your visa. Visit the Johns Hopkins Office of International Studies website for more insight into visa requirements.

Deadline to Apply for Session 1 of Intro to Python or EEI Hybrid
Friday, May 2, 2025
If you are a student interested in Summer Session 1 of Intro to Python or Summer Session 1 of EEI Hybrid, your completed application must be in by this date.

Deadline to Apply for Students Living Outside the Contiguous United States to an Online Program

Friday, May 16, 2025
If you are a student living outside the contiguous United States and applying to Engineering Innovation’s online programs, you must order a lab kit. To ensure sufficient time for you to receive your kit by the first day of the course, you must submit your application by this date.

Friday, May 28, 2025
This is the final deadline for all applicants.  Engineering Innovation only reviews completed applications. To ensure completeness, Engineering Innovation must receive all required components, as outlined in the Application Review section at the top of this page, by the specified deadline.


Notification and Confirmation of Admission

How Will I Know If I’m Admitted?

Our review process begins after the Early Action Deadline. Applications completed by the deadline on Friday, Feb. 14 2025, will be considered in the first round, and you will receive a decision via the application portal on March 3. Applications completed after February 14, you’ll hear back from the Engineering Innovation Team via the application portal within five weeks of submitting your completed application.

 

I applied to BMEI because I’ve always been interested in BME, but I wanted to learn more about Biomedical Engineering and the many branches it involves. I found JHU’s BMEI program to be the perfect avenue to do this through.
